Kate Nash is an English singer & songwriter based in London. She was born on July 6,1987. Kate Nash started her career in 2006. After several gigs, Nash uploaded her music to the social networking website MySpace. Nash found a manager for herself before proceeding to look for producers for her music. Nash’s debut was a single, “Caroline’s a Victim”/”Birds,” produced and recorded in Iceland by Valgeir Sigurđsson and released through Moshi Moshi Records in February 2007. In April 2007, Nash was signed to the Polydor offshoot Fiction Records. Kate Nash released her debut album, Made Of Bricks, in August of 2007. In the US, Made of Bricks debuted at number 36 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 16,000 copies. During mid-2007, Nash performed at numerous festivals including Wireless Festival, Bestival, the Electric Gardens, Glastonbury, Latitude, Reading and Leeds, Oxegen and T in the Park. She made her official TV performance debut on Later with Jools Holland. Kate Nash recently co-wrote “Almost Isn’t (Good Enough) Is It?” for Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players member Jason Trachtenburg for his upcoming album, Jason Trachtenburg: File Under Pop Male Vocal. Katharine McPhee is an American pop and R&B singer, songwriter, actress, model, and television personality born on March 25, 1984. Katharine McPhee was persuaded by Nick Cokas and her parents to try out for American Idol. She auditioned in San Francisco, and sang “God Bless the Child”, originally performed by Billie Holiday. After the first round of Hollywood week, she sang “I’ll Never Love This Way Again” by Dionne Warwick which earned favorable comments from the judges. During the second round, she performed in a group, singing “I Can’t Help Myself” by The Four Tops, forgetting the words, but the judges decided to advance the entire group. During the third round, she sang a Capella of “My Funny Valentine” and advanced to the top 40. On June 6, 2006, Sony BMG and 19 Entertainment announced that Katharine McPhee had signed to American Idol series creator Simon Fuller’s 19 Recordings Limited and Sony BMG’s RCA Records. In 2007, she released her self titled debut album. The album was released on January 30, 2007 by RCA Records. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, selling 116,000 copies in its first week. The album includes writing and production contributions from Babyface, The Underdogs, Kara DioGuardi, and Nate “Danja” Hills.
Deftones is an American rock band from Sacramento California, formed in 1988. It’s line up includes Chino Moreno on lead vocals & guitar, Stephen Carpenter on guitar, Chi Cheng on bass, Frank Delgado on keyboards & turntables and Abe Cunningham on drums & percussion. The band’s debut album, Adrenaline, was recorded at Bad Animals Studio in Seattle, Washington and released on October 3, 1995. It was produced by Deftones and Terry Date, who would go on to produce the band’s next three albums. In 1997, the Deftones released their sophomore album, Around the Fur. The songs “My Own Summer (Shove It)” and “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” were both released as singles with accompanying videos. They then released their third album, White Pony, in 2000. The song “Passenger” features the guest vocals of Tool’s Maynard James Keenan. The song “Knife Party” features the guest vocals of Rodleen Getsic. The band won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for the song “Elite” in 2001. On November 4 2008, bassist Chi Cheng was seriously injured in a car accident in Santa Clara, California.The Deftones have since gone on to produce three more albums which include a self titled album in 2003, Saturday Night Wrist in 2006 and Eros in 2009.
Placebo are an alternative rock band formed in London in 1994. Their current line up includes Brian Molko, Stefan Olsdal and Steve Forrest. Placebo’s self titled debut album was released July 16,1996 and was a major success, peaking at number five on the UK Albums Charts. In 1998, Placebo switched to the major label Virgin Records, and issued their peak album Without You I’m Nothing in November. It was another large seller in England. Placebo then released their third album, Black Market Music. The albu peaked at number six in the United Kingdom. In 2003, the band released their fourth album, Sleeping with Ghosts. In 2006, Placebo switched labels to Astralwerks and re-released several revisions of their earlier works. In October their debut album Placebo was digitally remastered and re-released with the title “10th Anniversary Collectors Edition”; the box set also includes a DVD containing music videos, concerts and TV performances. Placebo left EMI in 2008, but the label plans to release the complete Placebo recordings including all the studio albums, DVDs and B-Sides. Set for 8 June 2009 it holds ten discs.In May 2009, Placebo went on to perform three concerts in the United Kingdom, at relatively intimate venues in Sheffield, Bournemouth and London, before departing to the 2009 summer festival season in Europe and Asia.
